Toyota announces reform of Daihatsu Motor's business structure, taking back product planning, sales and other functions
Toyota Motor and its subsidiary Daihatsu Motor jointly announced that Toyota will reform Daihatsu's business structure and Daihatsu will position itself as a "mini-car-centered travel company." Based on Daihatsu's resources and actual situation, in order to completely prevent the recurrence of procedural violations at Daihatsu, the "Emerging Market Compact Car Company", an organization spanning Toyota and Daihatsu, will be dissolved. Toyota will be responsible for overseas operations from development to certification, and Daihatsu will be responsible for actual development work. This change will be carried out sequentially according to the model conversion schedule. Product planning functions will be transferred to Toyota Compact Car Company, and business and product management functions will be transferred to Toyota's business and sales divisions.
