Shanghai introduces design standards for centralized charging and parking spaces for electric bicycles to be implemented in October

The Shanghai Engineering Construction Specification "Design Standard for Centralized Charging and Parking Sites for Electric Bicycles" (DG/TJ08-2451-2024) has been approved and released by the Shanghai Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Management Committee and will be officially implemented on October 1, 2024. Based on existing technical guidelines, this standard puts forward technical requirements related to centralized charging and parking space construction for electric bicycles. In terms of using the existing residential area's overhead layer to set up centralized charging and parking places for electric bicycles, the standard stipulates that the centralized charging and parking places for electric bicycles should not be set up in the overhead layer connected to the inner patio; When inside the elevated layer, provisions such as fire partition walls with a fire resistance rating of not less than 3.00h and non-combustible floor slabs of 1.50h should be adopted to separate them from other parts. It is indeed difficult to add outdoor centralized charging and parking places for electric bicycles in existing residential areas. The standards stipulate that charging points and parking places can be distributed at appropriate locations such as gables and alley ends of residential buildings.
