European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control: Imported cases of new monkeypox virus infection in Europe may increase
The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control said on the 16th that more patients infected with the "branch I" strain of monkeypox are expected to travel to Europe, and recommended that European countries issue travel warnings for people traveling to and from areas affected by the monkeypox outbreak. The risk of infection is "moderate" after close contact with imported cases suspected or confirmed to be infected with the new strain of monkeypox. The center said that as long as imported cases are diagnosed quickly and control measures are taken, the possibility of continued spread of monkeypox in Europe is very low. Deutsche Presse-Agentur quoted experts as saying that compared with previous strains, this new strain may cause more serious illness. However, monkeypox is usually not easy to spread and can only be infected through direct contact.
